Maharepa the township of Moorea
With under 20,000 inhabitants, Moorea is Tahiti's sister island. The second largest settlement is called Maharepa with its 5000+ inhabitants, which is were we decided to drop our bags on this trip.

If you are looking for a laundromat, there is an equivalent although plan ahead because they wash, dry and fold your clothes, but you need to pick it up the next day, in the afternoon (one an a half day). It is priced by loads of 5 kilos and you can expect to pay 1,600 XPF or 27 NZD for each 5 kilos. It is right in Maharepa, West side part of the township and it was open Mondays to Saturdays during our visit.
You can go and have breakfast at Moz Cafe ☕️ nearby, further back East, if you are walking, while you wait for the laundry shop to open.
Moz cafe was open Mondays to Saturdays 8am till 2:30pm. Some shops, bar or restaurant are in island time. So often they will close for lunch between 12 and 1pm, so don’t sneak in at 11:55am because I don’t want you to be disappointed by the “out for lunch” 🪧 sing.
On another day we walked from Manava to the U Express supermarket on the East side. It is well priced, just like its bigger group on the island of Tahiti called Hyper U which is a very well priced French supermarket chain.
