A wonder around Papeete the capital of French Polynesia

Just wondering around by foot from our Hilton hotel accommodation throught Papeete. It takes about 20 mins to walk to the CBD from the partial unpaved sidewalk with a view of the harbour.

There is a new overseas cruise ship terminal that has been completed in the last year or so. On a partly overcast but still warm 27ºC and dry late August day, the walk along the promenade where the boats are is lovely.

Bustling vehicles, shops and streets next to it throughout the day. There's a lot of cars and traffic can be mad at lunchtime so its easier to walk.

For those with big wallets, there's plenty of Tahitian Black pearls and handcrafted shops towards the eastern side of the city, right opposite the cruise ship terminal.

Be prepared to pay top $$$ for those gifts or jewelries with the renowned Tahitian Black Pearls on it.

Various sizes and grade, the more expensive, the better the shine and rounded shap without defects. They're the local luxury items since it is one of the major exports and contributes to the local Tahitian economy.
